Our new student writing sessions offer high school and college students one-on-one assistance and mentorship on their academic writing assignments. Sessions are tailored to fit each student's individual needs, such as idea generation, clarity, organization of the argument, grammar and punctuation, using textual evidence, and ensuring that content meets the instructor's objectives. Additionally, this is a great opportunity to have an insider review your college application essays so that submissions are powerful, personalized, and grammatically clean.

Beyond her role as the JCC's Youth and Camp Director, Kristen has a master's degree in English from George Mason University and taught composition and literature courses full-time at West Point (the US Military Academy) for three years prior to moving to the Lehigh Valley. During those years, she also served as the assistant director of West Point's Writing Center, where students sought guidance and editing assistance with their writing assignments from across all disciplines.

Conducted in-person or via Zoom, coaching sessions last 45 minutes long, and students should forward assignment prompts, a draft (if possible), and objectives of what type of assistance they need to Kristen prior to meeting. The techniques and approaches discussed in coaching for one writing assignment will be relevant and applicable to future assignments your student will undertake. Here's your chance to have your writing refined and strengthened at any point in the writing process!
