Dive Under the Sea With Stagemakers This Fall

This fall, Stagemakers Youth Theater is heading under the sea. A cast of 56 young performers in grades K-8 will bring The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition to the stage for three performances, turning the JCC into Bikini Bottom.

Based on the beloved Nickelodeon series, the show follows SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends as they race to save their underwater home from a looming volcanic eruption. Along the way, it celebrates optimism, teamwork, and the idea that even the smallest sponge can make a big difference.

That spirit fits the Stagemakers mission to give young performers the opportunity to experience the stage. Kids work with a professional creative team to explore the building blocks of musicals, from dramaturgy and character development to singing and dancing, and even costuming and set production.Participants build confidence, make friends, and learn what it takes to put on a production together. Parents and grandparents will see that growth on stage, and younger siblings will no doubt cheer for their favorite characters.

Leading the production is director Krystal Hall, who has guided the cast through 10 weeks of rehearsals. With a cast this size Hall has focused on giving every child a moment in the spotlight while creating a supportive environment.
