Building Hours:On September 8, 2026, the JCC officially opened “Jacob’s Room.” This space adjacent to the JCC’s main lobby is a fun, child-centered area for families with children to play and socialize while in the building. Parents and children can take advantage of this space while waiting for family members to complete their classes, when arriving early for an event, or just to break up their routine while entering or exiting the building.
Jacob’s Room is dedicated in memory of Jacob Ellis z’’l, who passed away from pediatric cancer in June 2024. The room is decorated with amusement park theming, as Jacob was a roller coaster devotee. Additionally, Jacob had a love for technology, including gaming so 3D printing, and digital gaming devices are available in the room for children of all ages to play and learn together.
Jacob was a graduate of the JCC’s Early Childhood Education program and a participant in the Camp JCC summer camp program. With the opening of Jacob’s Room, Jacob’s memory will be an inspiration for many future generations of children at the JCC and have a lasting impact on the JCC community.
