Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the JCC has followed the guidance of the CDC and state and local public health officials. Following yesterday's announcement from the CDC that it is no longer recommending the use of face masks for vaccinated individuals in most situations, we feel that it is prudent to continue following the advice and best practices recommended by these experts.
So, effective Tuesday, May 18, 2021:
Members and guests who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear masks inside or outside on JCC property. We trust our members and guests to be truthful as to their vaccination status, however the JCC reserves the right to request proof of vaccination.
Those who are not fully vaccinated are required to continue wearing masks at all times on our property.
Since our child care programs (including Early Childhood Education, JSchool/JLounge and Camp JCC) fall under the purview of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, which has not yet changed its requirements on the use of masks, all persons in child care areas and programs are still required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
As a values-based community, we have great trust in our members to act responsibly to ensure the health and safety of their friends and neighbors. We also respect those who wish to continue to wear masks, either because they are still in the vaccination process or simply prefer to do so for enhanced safety. We strongly urge all members of our community, both for their own health and the health of those around them, to get vaccinated as soon as possible and our staff is happy to help anyone who needs assistance with vaccine access.
Finally, also beginning on Tuesday, we will no longer conduct temperature screenings; this is a change we had already been planning, in line with CDC guidance for schools and our own experiences over the past year. We are also planning to ease some additional measures on or around June 1, as well as to reopen some or all of our health club amenities, in line with the governor's lifting of other mitigation measures.
