Building Hours:The JCC of the Lehigh Valley is breaking new ground! Covid-19 delayed our plans for a new outdoor camp pool last summer, but we are pleased to announce that we are now moving ahead with the project. Excavation work begins tomorrow, and the project is scheduled to be completed in the spring.
To ensure the safety of our members, the Washington St. parking lot will be closed on two different days during this process. Please use the Tilghman St. parking lot or find parking on the street instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the JCC building a new pool?
When we moved our summer camp program to our Allentown campus, we recognized the need for an outdoor pool that was designed with children in mind. This new pool will provide a complement to our existing indoor pool.
Will the pool only be for camp?
Camp will be the primary purpose of the pool, as it is being designed with the instructional and recreational swim needs of children in mind. We hope to also open it to our members for family swim on the weekends, as we did with our previous camp pool in Center Valley.
When will the new pool be open?
The timeline is dependent on weather and Covid-19 restrictions. But by getting the project started now, we are in an excellent position to have it completed by June. Once open, the pool will operate seasonally in the summer months.
Will this replace the indoor pool?
No, the indoor pool will continue to operate year-round and be used for lap swimming, lessons, swim team, and group exercise (eventually). Having a dedicated new camp pool will enable us to keep the indoor pool open to members in the summer. We are, however, planning an extensive mechanical renovation of the indoor pool in the coming year - please stay tuned.
What safety measures are taking place during the construction process?
Temporary safety fencing will be put into place around the construction area. The construction area is not a space that is currently in use. Our insurance company will evaluate these precautions. During two specific days (excavation and concrete pouring), we will close the adjacent parking lot due to the large number of construction trucks expected to be passing through. As the project nears completion in the spring, a new privacy fence will be constructed around the pool, connecting it to the existing Washington St. play area, and meeting the required international commercial pool codes. The project is permitted and inspected by the City of Allentown.
