Camp JCC is pleased to announce the hiring of our new camp director, Kristen Johnson! Kristen comes to us with years of experience as a camp counselor and program director at a large day camp, formal education experience in a classroom setting, and a love for the outdoors.
Kristen sums it up best: “I am genuinely enthusiastic about developing and delivering quality programs for children. Camp is a unique opportunity to be creative, fun, athletic, outdoorsy, artsy, and even silly—both for me and the campers!”
As a new camp director with a new camp location, Kristen is already hard at work designing this summer’s program. The goal of the Camp JCC team is to build upon our strong programmatic foundation, while incorporating new elements leveraging our new location. This includes increased cross-programming with our specialty camps, more convenient options for parents, and more off-site field trips.
Kristen has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Wake Forest University, and a master’s in English from George Mason University. Additionally, Kristen is the proud parent of Ari, a Camp JCC camper, Stagemakers performer, student at the Jewish Day School, and participant in the JCC’s JLounge after-school program.
Please join us for a Camp Director Q&A on Monday, February 3 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm. Meet Kristen, learn more about the new Camp JCC, and get a sneak peek of our 2020 camp brochure. We will also offer child care in the JLounge area during the meeting. To sign up for child care during the meeting, please click here.
