Shalom from ECE
Exploring Jewish Culture in the ECE
Shalom, with the High holidays behind us, we can now dive into learning about Jewish Culture. This week we started learning about Creation of the World and then we will move on to Noah’s Ark (because those are the first 2 stories in the Torah).
My friends learned that Hashem (the term we use in the classroom for G-d, which means: His Name) created the world in 6 days, and on the seventh day he rested. This day is known as Shabbat. We explored the days of creation through pictures/story, interactions, movements, and my touch and feel Creation of the World book. Each year we work together as a school to create a joint project. This year, each classroom will work on a different day of creation to be displayed in the ECE hallway. Make sure to stop by at the end of the month to see their hard work!
We learned a lot of new Hebrew and Sign Language words too!
In the coming weeks, we will learn all about Noah’s animals. We will learn how to say and do different animals in Hebrew and Sign Language. Each child will explore Noah’s Ark through activities, crafts, stories and songs (which you can download below). We will also review the Hebrew words for all the colors in the Keshet (rainbow). Make sure to check it out at the end of the month.
Looking forward to constantly learning and exploring with your little ones!
